Sweden truly is one of those bucket list destinations that should be on every waterfowl hunters plans. Almost all of those dream species are found here and it can be possible to hunt Barnacle, Bean, Greylag, Greater Whitefront and Canada geese so its ideal for those looking for birds for the wall. Duck species are similar to Scotland with Mallards and Eurasian teal being a staple with guest appearances from Eurasian wigeon and Tufted duck being a possibility! The real icing on the cake is that through crop protection needs its possible to hunt whooper Swans and cranes The season runs from as Early as September but the best Waterfowl hunting is from the end of October to mid December for all waterfowl species. It is possible to hunt geese only during a late season crop protection hunt in January and February and for those looking for geese only this can be a great time for some excellent wall hangers.
Mornings will be focused on field hunts for geese and they will take place on different arable fields over full body, sock and silo spreads. Depending on the situation each day blinds will be either in the spread and hunting will be out of power hunters set up like giant swans as it’s the same principle as hunting snows in whites! That or A frame style blinds from the field edges will be used depending on bird patterns and weather conditions. This can prove for some extremely good hunting and with no limits in Sweden anything is possible but just remember they are wild and hunters need to be able to shoot!
Evening hunts tend to be for ducks but sometimes depending on location it can be possible to hunt geese on larger bodies of water but some of the best hunting is on the smaller ponds and rivers especially as it starts to get colder! Similar style of hunting to Scotland that you will be hunting ducks coming back to roosts, usually producing some crazy hunting opportunities pretty back to back for anything from 30 minutes up to an hour!
As with all of these trips it can be possible to add on different combo hunts, just reach out and let us know how you’d like it tailored to suit your team!
Once again this is another super traditional style of hunting and it takes the same form as Scotland just over a much different landscape. The hunts take place across some very unique old hunting estates and private farms where its possible to hunt Pheasant, Duck, Partridge, Hares and even Foxes and badgers! Incredible mixed bag opportunities for the upland hunting and for the driven hunts it will usually focus on a mix of pheasant, duck and partridge.
These hunts can line up really well to offer as either an add on between morning and evening hunts or as stand alone hunts, the choice is completely yours how you might want to plan your trip!
Sweden is renowned for some incredible wild boar hunting, be it driven or tower hunting at night its well known for some big pigs in some very picturesque landscapes! Our outfitter has been specialising in boar for a number of years and regularly runs successful trips as stand alone or combined with other hunts. The spring and summer offer some good hunting from towers throughout the night with the use of thermal and night vision. While the summer it can be possible to hunt long into the night with much longer day light hours and can be a mixture of tower hunting over food stations or stalking the meadows and forestry edges.
Along with the Boar Sweden has great opportunities for both Roe and Fallow Deer, similar stalking situations to Scotland where they tend to be hunted on both morning and evening hunts. It can be possible to actually combine driven hunts for boar, fallow and roe deer during the winter months and on occasion pending quotas it can even be possible to hunt moose on these hunts!
There is actually some great fishing to be had in the rivers, ponds and lakes for the likes of Salmon, Trout, Pike and Perch! Please ask in more detail as we can tailor this to suit your requirements and the time of year.
